Art of Living for Women in 2019 will present the often overlooked, yet transformative nature of the innumerable little things involved in the care of our homes and our families. Why Little Things Matter will explore why and how even the smallest details can bring beauty and harmony to every home. Practical classes and hands-on experience in cooking, decorating, and cleaning will be offered during this seminar as well as a luncheon with ample time for conversation!
I. Introductory talk
II. The final flourish: sauces, dressings, and glazes
a. making pan gravy with confidence
b. making salad dressings at home with fresh, natural ingredients
c. ‘kicking it up a notch’: desserts with a fruit/chocolate glaze
III. Decorative details: small scale, big impact
a. creating ‘tablescapes’ at home: mantel, hall table, coffee table
b. decorating for everyday or seasonal/holiday events
c. applying basic rules regarding color, form, number, texture, etc.
IV. Little reminders: mini class on ‘motivators’
a. framing a favorite saying or quotation
b. taking the inspiration/encouragement home
V. Little fixes: mini class on the inevitable spills, scratches and stains
a. removing stains of all sorts including wine, oil, wax, etc.
b. removing white water rings on wood furniture
